Good in the Hood Multicultural Music & Food Festival (GITH) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1990 by the parents and staff of Holy Redeemer Catholic School to celebrate diversity and raise funds in support of local education. What began as a neighborhood block party has grown into a beloved community tradition dedicated to our motto: “Keeping Unity in the Community.”
For more than three decades, our all-volunteer team has carried this vision forward—creating a vibrant space that uplifts culture, fosters connection, and provides college scholarships to deserving students.
The festival unites communities through the transformative power of music, food, and culture. Rooted in North Portland, our impact reverberates across the Pacific Northwest, creating a vibrant space where diversity is celebrated, small businesses thrive, and local talent shines. More than just a festival, we cultivate economic opportunity, uplift future leaders through scholarships, and foster meaningful connections. Guided by our motto, we champion inclusivity, resilience, and collective prosperity. Each year, on the last weekend of June, Good in the Hood hosts the largest multicultural music and food festival in the Pacific Northwest. The celebration kicks off with a joyful parade through Northeast Portland and continues with two days of live music, food, art, and community engagement. The festival brings together local and national performers, small businesses, community organizations, and thousands of attendees to honor the rich diversity that makes Portland strong.
